Robert L. Allard, 85, of South Shore, Ky., went to be with his Lord July 19, 2009.

He was born June 2, 1924, a son of the late Owen and Hazel Hilt Allard. He was a sergeant in the United States Army, Air Force division and a veteran of WWII. He was a 53-year member and chaplain of the South Shore Volunteer Fire Dept. since 1956. He was an electrician with 36 years service and retired from North American Refractory in South Shore, Ky. He was assistant pastor at Sovereign Grace Missionary Baptist Church in Coal Grove, Ohio, and a Kentucky Colonel. Also, he was chaplain for the Eastern Kentucky Fireman's Association and Ohio Valley Fire Fighters Association.

He was preceded in death by his precious wife, Anna June French Allard, whom he married on June 14, 1945; one daughter, Rebecca Denise Allard; three brothers and three sisters.

He is survived by two sons, Harold and Pam Allard and Albert and Debbie Allard of South Shore, Ky.; two daughters, Dianna and Kenny Brown of Greenup, Ky., and Debbie and Emerson Perkins of South Shore, Ky.; and four sisters, Alice Jordan, Doris Carver, Rose Allard and Nellie Allard. He was a grandfather to Robert, Lora, Chris, Kenny, Candy, Tessa, Misty, Brandy, Emerson, J.B, Frank, and Justin; and great-grandfather to Eva, Grayson, Margarita, Brittany, Tiffany, Courtney, Austin, Kadin, Isaac, Basil and Brittany.

Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Thursday, July 23, 2009, at the Kings Addition Baptist Church, with Elder Albert Allard, officiating. Burial will be in Siloam Cemetery, U.S. 23, South Shore, Ky. Friends may call at the Roberson Funeral Home in South Shore, Ky., from 4 p.m. until 8 p.m. on Wednesday and from 10 a.m. until the funeral hour on Thursday at the Kings Addition Baptist Church. Military graveside services will be conducted by the James L. Flannery American Legion Post 276 of South Shore, Ky.
