Euphemia was the second of eight children born to Paul Woods/DuBois dit Quintin and Louise Payan St.Onge Woods/DuBois on 9 Aug 1839 in Quebec, Canada. She came to the USA somewhere between 1856-1860 as a skilled weaver and worked in the mills in the Ware, Massachusetts area. Phebe Married Joseph Jefferson on 22 Aug 1869 in Springfield, MA. It was her first marriage and his second. She gave birth to Mary Louise May 1871, Wilfred L. 28 Jul 1872, Louis Napoleon 15 May 1874 and Euphemia Anna 16 Apr 1880. All were born in the Springfield/West Springfield, MA area. Phebe worked diligently raising her children, keeping house and running a boarding house. It was located above her husband's Saloon called Jefferson & Sons. She managed to stay in close touch with her sisters and her Mother who came to live with Phebe & Joseph for many years. After Joseph passed in 1913 Phebe was able to secure the right of survivorship to Joseph's Civil War Pension. Her step sons Charlie and Albert wrote afterdavits which successfully supported the application. Euphemia passed away on 14 Jan 1917 at age 77. She was buried with her husband of 44 years Joseph Jefferson in St. Benedict's Cemetery in Springfield, Massachusetts.
