Elisha Shirley 1805-1889 was born to Ezekiel Shirley 1775-1864 & Dulcenia (Dolly) Shirley 1789-1865 in Scott Co., KY, the third of ten children. Elisha & his first wife Martha moved to Indiana about 1831, the time his parents also moved to Hendricks Co. IN. Wife Martha died abt 1839 sometime after birth of their fourth child. Elisha married Elisabeth Ford 1825-1889 on 24 Oct 1842. Their seven children are: Mary Shirley 1843 – __; Clarinda Shirley 1845 - --; Johnson Shirley 1847 – 1929; Nancy A Shirley 1850 – 1915; Elizabeth "Eliza" Shirley 1854 – 1932; David Shirley 1858 – 1924; & Dora Anderson Shirley 1863 – 1929. Elisha and Elisabeth Ford Shirley, early settlers to Boone Co., IN were founders of Mt. Tabor Baptist Church in Fayette, IN. where they are buried in Mt Tabor Cemetery on the hill behind that church. The date of both their deaths is 8 Apr 1889. Elisha was 84 & Elisabeth (Elisa) was 63. in April 2017 MSP added pictures of Elisha Shirley's tombstone. It was up under a big tree. Thanks MSP.
