When 16 years old he came with his parents to Iowa. He lived practically all his life in Polk county.
February 21, 1893 he was united in marriage to Anna Bogue. Four children were born to them, two girls and two boys.
About 39 years ago he joined the Independent Order of Oddfellows and was a loyal member up to the time of his death.
Early in life Brother Allen was baptized and united with the Christian church at Elkhart, Iowa.
He was a good neighbor, a devoted husband and a kind and loving father and a faithful friend.
He leaves to mourn a wife Anna, and four children, Arline Harvey, Ardrey Lois Thompson and Merwyn, and nine grandchildren. Also one brother, Lawrence of Walla Walla, Washington and other relatives and many friends.
Funeral services which were held at Lilly's Funeral home in Des Moines, April 13, 1937 were conducted by Rev. E. A. Elliott, assisted by Rev. P. E. Shult.
Ankeny Star Lodge of which he was a loyal member had charge of the service at the grave.
