Final rites for Joy C. Bond, 72, of Tahlequah, Okla., are to be held Saturday by Guardian Funeral Home, Tulsa, with interment in Sand Springs, Okla.

Mr. Bond was a resident of Borger from 1944 to 1952, while owner and operator of B and L Electric and Upholstery Company. He died this morning at Tahlequah.

Surviving are a daughter, Mrs. Roy Kennedy, 501 Austin; two sons, Clifford and Claude, both of Tahlequah; three grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

Death certification shows the following for Joy Bond. Middle name is Clifford. Birth place shown as Polk, Nebraska. Date of death is listed as 11-21-1962 at 5:00pm in Tahlepuah(sic), OK. Usual Occupation shown as Saleman. Father, Fred I. Bond and mother, Molesta Walker. Cause of death listed as Cerebral vascular 0c_____. At the time of Joy's death he was shown to be widowed and living in Bennett Nursing Home at time of death. Informant: Mrs. Roy Kennedy - PO Box 1103 - Borger, Tex. Funeral director: Guardian Funeral Home, Inc. Tulsa, OK.

Note: In Polk County, Nebraska there is a town called Osceola. It is unknown how this name is related to the name applied to the area north of Butler, OK and the cemetery there. Polk County is the county west of Butler County in Nebraska. This information implies that Joy's mother may not have moved to Texas with her parents and brothers when they did and may have come to Oklahoma directly from Nebraska.

The Tulsa Daily World, Friday, November 23, 1962 Bond Rites Slated

Services for Joy C. Bond, 70, a retired Mason Electric Co. employe, will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday in the Guardian Funeral Chapel here. Bond who moved from Tulsa 20 months ago, died Wednesday in a Tahlequah nursing home. Interment will be in Woodland Cemetery, Sand Springs. (Information/parent links from Rob Walker)
