David E. Chamberlain, 88, died Friday afternoon, June 7th, at the Clover Hospice, Auburn, ME where he was a resident.

He was born in Irving, MA on April 20, 1896, the son of David John and Emma (Blais) Chamberlain.

He was educated in Hartford, ME schools and was later married to Mary Albert in Auburn, ME on June 10, 1918.

He was a veteran of WWI and served as a Private in Company D, 7th Infantry, U.S. Army.

He was a charter member of the John D. Long American Legion Post 58 of Buckfield and was also a past commander and Diamond Jubilee Certificate recipient for 62 years membership.

He was well-known in this area as a lumber operator and was also active in town affairs, where he served as selectman, road commissioner, and fire warden at various times in his life for the town of Hartford, ME.

He is survived by his wife, Mary, of Hartford, ME
