Mary "Sherry" Blumberg
Mary E. "Sherry" Blumberg, 82, of Clarkdale, died Jan. 23, 2006. She was born Feb. 5, 1923, in Craigsville, Va.
Mary spent her youth in the small mountain community before moving to Baltimore, where her beloved son Joe was born. Mary was a superb homemaker, especially enjoying cooking, gardening, doing for others and various charity works.
"Sherry" met her lifelong soulmate and love of her life, Doran Lee Meadows, in Odenton, Md., in 1968. Doran always said that when he first laid eyes on her she had an aura about her that glowed and he knew she was someone special. After meeting Doran, Sherry won several bowling awards and participated in state and national tournaments.
She also loved boating and fishing in the Chesapeake Bay. After moving to Clarkdale, Sherry and Doran spent many idyllic afternoons fishing at Dead Horse Ranch.
Mary was also an avid animal lover and leaves behind her two beloved toy fox terriers, "Ellie" and "Heffy."
Mary had various professions, including working in a clothing mill in Virginia before moving to Baltimore. Her greatest satisfaction was her tenure at he Social Security Administration, where she worked until she had to retire due to health conditions.
She is survived by her loving husband Doran Lee Meadows, beloved son Joseph Blumberg, and stepdaughters Gay Martin, Lynn Guerra, Venda Meadows and Sylvia Hendrickson. She also leaves niece Delores Minter, nephew Harold McLain, niece Dale Welsher, nephew William "Rocky" McLain, brother Robert Hildebrand, sister Tillie Cockes, brother Frankie Hildebrand and brother Edward Hildebrand.
She is predeceased by her mother Laura Sprouse Hildebrand Carroll, father Harry Hildebrand, sister Phyllis McLain, brother Richard Hildebrand and brother Harold Hildebrand (killed during the Korean War.)
Sherry leaves many good friends in Maryland and Arizona to cherish her memory.

Mary Ellen Blumberg died Monday Jan. 23, 2006, at Arizona Heart Hospital, Phoenix. She was born Feb. 5, 1923, at Craigsville, Va., to Harry Hildebrand and Laura (Sprouse) Hildebrand Carroll.
Mrs. Blumberg was preceded in death by her husband, Albert Blumberg; a brother, Richard Hildebrand; and a sister, Phyllis E. McLain.
Survivors include a son, Joe Blumberg of New Jersey; two brothers, Frank Hildebrand of Verona, Va., and Robert Hildebrand of Waynesboro, Va.; a half brother, Elwood Hildebrand of Craigsville; and a half sister, Tillie Cocks of Newport News, Va.
Memorial services will be at a later date in Arizona.
McLaughlin Funeral Home is handling arrangements.

*Mary married Albert Blumberg in Washington D.C. District of Columbia on April 21 1941. Albert died on June 7 1960.
