Brittanie Montgomery, 19, went to be with our heavenly Father on Thursday, December 21st after injuries sustained in a car accident. Her's was a star that burned far too short but oh so bright.
Brittanie was dedicated to working with children with an ultimate goal of becoming a social worker in child services. Her position at a local daycare gave her the chance to influence young lives every day with her beautiful spirit and smile. Of particular interest to Brittanie was helping abused children. She was studying child development at UCO and was focusing her studies on the special help that she could provide to the abused. Her personal goals centered on her love of dance. She was a previous member of the Yard Dawgz and UCO dance squads and was a current member of the NBA Hornets dance squad, the Honeybees. As a Honeybee she practiced and performed tirelessly and dreamed of one day becoming a member of the Dallas Cowboy's Cheerleaders. Brittanie exemplified the type of personal integrity, giving spirit and persistence in the face of challenge that made her as beautiful on the inside as she was on the outside. For someone who accomplished so much and touched so many, she rarely took time to reflect on her own accomplishments, choosing instead to focus on her next challenge or the challenges of others. We are quite certain that God has a very special position awaiting her in his kingdom. Somewhere in the world there is a child in need that is today receiving an unexplained warm feeling of comfort. We have no doubt that it is Brittanie putting her arms around that child and touching his or her heart just like she always planned. Brittanie leaves behind a loving family that includes her mother and stepfather Gina and Bennie Harris, her father Martin Saltzman, 3 siblings Taylor, Amanda and James Harris and so many other loved ones. Brittanie graduated from Yukon High School and was currently a sophomore at UCO.

Funeral services will be Wednesday, December 27, 2006, at Trinity Baptist Church, 600 N. Cemetery Rd. Yukon, Oklahoma. The internment will be at Yukon Cemetery following the service.
