After World War II he joined United Air Lines, where he worked for 38 years as a flight engineer based out of New York, Chicago and Los Angeles.

With his late wife, Barbara, he owned and operated Calico Ranch, an apple and pear orchard in the mountains of Julian, California.

Before moving to North Carolina, Mr. Metz lived in Poway, CA, Rancho Bernardo, CA, and Freeport, NY.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions to either Hospice of Boulder and Broomfield Counties, 2594 Trailridge Drive East, Lafayette, CO 80026 or The Elizabeth Hospice, 150 W. Crest Street, Escondido, CA 92925, both of which provided great care to Harry during these past months.
