--At 5 o'clock Tuesday evening Mrs. Fannie Michael, one of the pioneers of Allen county, died at the home of her daughter, Mrs. George Firestine, a mile east of the school for feeble minded. She had reached the advanced age of eighty-five before the once rugged constitution was vanquished in its battle with years.
--Mrs. Michael was born in Lancaster county, Pa., in 1814 and came to Allen county in 1838, at a time when most of the territory now occupied by the city of Fort Wayne was yet a virgin forest. For more than sixty years she had lived within its borders and witnessed time's transformations upon this section. Her husband died many years ago and three children also preceded the mother to the life beyond. Two children survive--Mrs. Firestine and Philip MIchael, both of whom reside east of this city. There are also seventeen grandchildren and twenty-eight great grandchildren.
--The funeral services will be held Thursday afternoon at 1 o'clock at the residence of Mrs. Firestine, conducted by Rev. L. L. Henson. The interment will occur at New Haven.
