The oldest son of Pauline M. Hoefler and Ernest P. Bond, Sr.
He was in the USNR for 2 years during WWII as a teenager. Then in the regular USN for 2 more years after the war. And finally in his favorite branch of the service the USMC. And he was ALWAYS a Marine.
He was one of the 1st Marines in the Korean War one of the members of the Chosin Few, he was wounded in an ambush in Hungnam and went to Japan & then stateside for a while but he volunteered to go back even with shrapnel still in his leg & he did another tour in Korea.
Later he was a D.I. including at Parris Island & later in Vietnam for over a year.
He was married twice both times to lovely southern ladies including first my beautiful Mom.
His second wife survives him as did his adored little dog Boo. But Boo passed away in 2013.
My father was cremated. We had a very nice memorial service for him in Dunedin, Florida on May 28, 2012.
Any former recruit, family member or good friend of my father please feel free to leave a note and flowers.
His last rank was First Sgt. but that wasn't on Find A Grave's list of prefixes.
