Born Aug. 13, 1915, in Houston Township, he was a son of William A. and Alice M. McClelland Henning.
He married Ida E. Taute on May 18, 1941, in Trinity Lutheran Church in Golden. She survives.
Mr. Henning was a lifelong farmer in Houston Township. He took pride in raising and showing black Poland hogs at fairs and was a charter member of the Big Neck 4-H Club. He had attended rural Adams County schools and Mendon Township High School.
Mr. Henning was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Golden where he was active in Sunday school, served on the church council and was a member of the Men's Group. He enjoyed hunting and was also a member of the Golden Lions Club and the Adams County Farm Bureau and its Prime Timers.
Also surviving are a son, Bill and his wife, Gabrella, of Boalsburg, Pa.; a daughter, Sharon Zilm and her husband, Karl, of Alton; four grandchildren, Sara Dailing and her husband, Michael of Quincy, Rebecca Applegren and her husband, Eric, of St. Louis and Kristin and John Zilm, both of Alton; and two great-grandchildren, Grace and Parker Dailing.
Preceding him in death were two sisters, Maxine Schafer and Pauline Burch, and two brothers, Emory and Wilson Henning.
Services will be conducted at 10 a.m. Thursday in Trinity Lutheran Church in Golden by the Rev. James Trutwin. Burial will be in Golden Memorial Gardens in Golden.
Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. today in the Hunter Funeral Home in Golden.
Memorials may be made to Trinity Lutheran Church.
