Martha M. Fryzek, 75 of Ord died Saturday, Aug. 29, 2009, at Community Memorial Health Center in Burwell.

Martha Mae Fryzek was born Nov. 4, 1933, on the family farm west of Ord to Ladislav and Martha (Janicek) Kvetensky. Martha was raised on the family farm and attended grade school at District 29 and graduated from Ord High School in 1950.

Martha was married to George Fryzek on April 5, 1951, in Ord. Martha lived her entire adult life at Ord. She had worked at Absalon Variety, the Ord Theatre, Jack & Jill Grocery Store, Beranek Drug and was the head cook at Ord Public Schools until 1994.

Martha and George had celebrated 50 years of marriage on April 5, 2001. George died Jan. 14, 2005.

Martha loved sharing her garden produce with her neighbors and friends. Grandkids and other family members were always treated to such goodies as dumplings, plum dumplings, kolaches, rhubarb buns, rhubarb jam, apple strudel and hoska. Grandma's kitchen always smelled so good.

Martha was a 50-plus year member of the ZCBJ Lodge Slavin 112 at National Hall. She enjoyed coin collecting, doing crossword puzzles, cooking, sewing, canning, gardening, genealogy, playing cards, loving and spoiling her family, especially her grandkids and great-grandkids.

Survivors include: a son and daughter-in-law, Charles and Linda Fryzek of Burwell; a daughter and son-in-law, Deborah and Don Andrews of North Bend; two brothers and a sister-in-law, Joseph Kvetensky of Cedar Rapids and Anton and Mary Kvetensky of Grand Island; two sister-in-laws, Lillian Kvetensky of Ralston and Bess Fryzek of Greeley, Colo.; seven grandchildren, Nicole (and husband, Philip), Christian (and wife, Rachelle), Aaron, Amanda and Nathan Fryzek, Benjamin Andrews (and fiancee, Sherry Wiese) and Adam Andrews; and four great-grandchildren, Logan, Kelsey, Dillon and Kaitlyn Simpson.

Martha also was preceded in death by her parents; a brother, Ladislav F. Kvetensky; and an infant sister, Marie Ann Kvetensky.

The funeral will be 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Ord Memorial Chapel with the Rev. William G. Stovall officiating. Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. Tuesday at Ord Memorial Chapel. Burial will be in National Bohemian Cemetery west of Ord.

Memorials are suggested to the American Cancer Society.
