Jack E. Antes died 4 September 2010. Born 27 May 1930 in Greenwich, Connecticut, to William and Eleanor Antes, he was a 1948 alumnus of Greenwich High School and received a Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Connecticut in 1953. While in college, Jack played in his own band, The Campus Music Makers. After graduation, he enrolled in the Air Force ROTC program and went to Keesler AFB in Mississippi, assigned in airborne electronics. The Air Force deployed him to Korea, where he was the officer in charge of communications for the 58th Fighter-Bomber Squadron. He served in the AF reserve for another ten years. Upon moving to Southern California in 1964, he joined the Hughes Aircraft Co. as a member of their technical staff in Newport Beach. He was involved in the design of electrical connectors and held 20 US patents over his many years of connector design and work in materials and processes. He sold his own company, Centerline Engineering, in Santa Ana, California, and moved to Reno in 1995. Beginning with trombone-playing in high school, Jack continued to participate in music throughout his life. Jack worked on songwriting and copyrighted a number of songs working with Gary Douglas, a local musician. He also enjoyed playing golf at most of the local Reno courses with his golfing buddies. Jack was survived by his wife, a daughter in Nebraska and a son in Reno, as well as five grandchildren. He was predeceased by his brother, William Antes of Mesa, Arizona.
