Mary Emily Goodwin Barnes, R.N., of Stockton, California, peaceably went to her heavenly home on Wednesday, June 19, 2002. She was born on July 27, 1908 daughter of Britt R. Goodwin and Stella Griffin Hess Goodwin.
Mary Emily graduated from the former Uniontown Hospital School of Nursing, Uniontown, Pa., in 1929 and was employed by the United States Government Veterans Hospital as a Registered Nurse in Mental Health. Her husband, William Barnes, brother, Clark Hess Goodwin, and parents preceded her in death.
She is survived by a sister, Stella Goodwin of Tampa, Florida; stepson, William Barnes of Buellton, California; nephew, C. Robert Goodwin of Glenshaw, Pa.; niece, Mary Rebekah Fritz of Valencia, Pa.; cousins: Marion Scott of Pleasant Hill, California, Edna Phillips of Point Marion, Pa., and many others in Fayette County, Pa.
A Memorial Service was held in Stockton, California. A private Graveside Service will be at the family plot in Maple Grove Cemetery, Fairchance, Pa. The family requests memorials be made to Central Christian Church, 23 South Gallatin Avenue, Uniontown, PA 15401 or to Hospice Nursing. Local arrangements are under direction of the McDONALD-AEBERLI FUNERAL HOME INC., 238 Crowe Avenue, Mars, PA 16046.
