Son of James Baker and Sarah Pennock of Chester County, Pennsylvania. First married to Amelia Roberts, daughter of John Roberts and Mary Ellmaker of Marietta, Lancaster County, Pennsylvania. Amelia passed away in 1833 from cholera and is buried in Wheeling, WV. Her grave is not marked and had been moved from an earlier site where all those who died from cholera at that time were buried.
