Betty Hairston Bailey, age 78, of Fort Payne, passed away on June 4, 2013 at her residence. Mrs. Bailey was born in Dekalb County, Alabama on July 31, 1934 to the late Andrew Jackson and Daisey Mae Garmany Hairston. She retired from Gildan where she worked as a boarder.
Mrs. Bailey is survived by her daughter and son-in-law: Lorna and Gary Davis; grandchildren: Lane (Christy) Bailey and Cain (Trisha) Henderson; great-grandchildren: Amber Compton, Brody Bailey, Hailey Henderson, Gabriel Henderson and Nikki Mullins; brother-in-law: Gordon (Helen) Bailey; and sisters-in-law: Katherine O'Shields and Frances Harwood. She was preceded in death by her husband: Walter Wayne Bailey; son: Russell Wayne Bailey; and several brothers and sisters.
Funeral services will be 2:00pm Friday, June 7, 2013 from the Wilson Funeral Home Chapel with burial following in the Glenwood Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Thursday evening, 5:00 until 8:00pm at the funeral home.
