Jerry E. Conwell, Sr., 64, died Sunday, April 5, 1992, at the Veterans Hospital in Retsil, Washington.
He was born August 27, 1927, at Peru, Miami Co., Indiana to John Franklin and Christie Belle (Lewis) Conwell. On July 18, 1944, he married Alma Josephine Harrison in Indianapolis, Ind. They were divorced in June 1960. On January 26, 1965 he was married to Idella Opem Soderberg in Milbank, South Dakota. They were divorced in February 1980.
Mr. Conwell enlisted in the Army in 1945. He was an over the road trucker working for Spector Freight Systems from 1964 to 1973 and International Transport from 1973 to 1980. He lived in Burnsville, Minnesota from 1966 to 1972 at which time he moved to Kenyon, Minnesota. In 1979 he moved to Sterling, Colorado, and then to Tacoma, Washington.
He is survived by two sons, Jerry E., Jr., of Indianapolis and David M. of El Cajon, California; two daughters Laurie (Mrs. Timothy) Hanson and Dawn M. Conwell, both of West Concord, Minnesota. His mother, Christie Belle Lewis of Onamia, Minnesota; one brother, Edward M. Lewis of Becker, Minnesota; one sister, Phyliss (Mrs. Donald) Shane of Tacoma, Washington; nine grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his father, one brother, one son and one grandson.
Memorial Service to be held Saturday, April 11, 1992, 11 a.m. at Washington State Veteran's Home, Retsil, Washington.
