married Amanda Jane Ashford on October 20, 1889 (5/1/1872-4/30/1954).

Parents of India were Mose Prater (5/28/1828-8/26/1915)
and Eliza Jane Elkins (1840-1880).
The parents of Amanda Jane Ashford Prater were
Polk Ashford (1/20/1846--1/3/1920) and Sarah Collins (3/6/1842--7/5/1899).

Thomas Indiamon "India" had four brothers: John L. Prater, Martin D. Prater Henry Prater, Edward Prater, and one sister, Dosha Prater. All of these were from Cannon County. India also had 8 half-brothers and sisters.
They are: Moses "Tidy", Lucinda, Sam, Eliza, Jennie, Lilly, Charley, and Dewie.
Amanda Jane Ashford Prater had two brothers; Manse, and K. L. and one sister, Ella Ashford.

The fourth child, Thomas Indiamon Jr.," Tom" (6/7/1898-9/9/1976).
married Elsie Mathis (2/3/1906-1/18/1975).
They had two sons, Marshall and Boyd.

Child five, Lurlie (9/22/1900-3/24/1983)
married Lawrence Reed (11/2/1896-4/20/1949).
They had three children, Hassie, Felix, and Frances.
Child six, Shelah Dillard (1/19/1903-3/25/1990)
Married Maurine Cates(1/2/1906—5/25/1994)
they had two sons, Bobby Lloyd and Donald Brant.

Child seven, Prudie "Jackie" (11/30/1904-1/3/1952)
married Oscar Kell (11/9/1894-3/15/1975) and they had no children.

The eighth child, Doshie (4/15/1908-1/19/1991)
Married Simon Roberts(1/29/1907-5/14/1984);
they had no children.

The ninth child, Pearlie Ellen (6/22/1910-6/1/1911)
died in infancy.

India was among the first elders at the Pleasant Knoll Church of Christ. He also led congregational singing for many years.

India was a farmer in the Pleasant Knoll community, and several have stated that each time he came to the house from doing his chores or from the field you could hear him singing the hymn "Unclouded Day". As for Amanda (grandma), one of her great talents was cooking
