Obituary: MARGAREVILLE — John J. Beers, resident of Arkville, died at his residence Tuesday, Aug. 26, 2014. John was born April 15, 1942, at Pound Ridge, the son of Carl S. and Josephine (Godfrey) Beers. He married Wilma Mc Cann on July 22, 1967, in Arkville. John worked for Duncan D. Campbell on the farm for many years in Andes, later he was a truck driver for the Middletown Highway Department. John enjoyed coon hunting, fishing and deer hunting. He is survived by his wife, Wilma Beers of Arkville; daughter, Ann and her husband, James Lawson and their children, Andrew, Kaitlyn, Nathan and Abigal; son, John J. Jr. and wife Michelle and their children, Savanna, John Paul and Ryan, James A. and his children, Renee, Lance, Emilee Rose, and her mother, Brenda Archibald; godson, James S. L. Stratton. Also survived by two great-granddaughters, Johanna Beers and Brianna Beers; sisters, Shirley Balcom of Andes, Cheryl and Ken Stratton of Margaretville, Barbara Hopkins of Santa Rosa, Calif., Jane Soderback of Andes, Rose and Bob Tenewitz of Florence, S.C., Debbie and Ernie Smith, Hallstead, Pa.; brothers, Carl S. Beers Jr., Andes, Robert and Shelly Beers of Starlight, Pa., Donald and Jamie Beers, Bainbridge, and Terry Beers of Lake Como, Pa.; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins. Predeceased by his parents, a brother, Richard Beers and sisters, Betty Weed and Judy Betts. Calling hours will be from noon until funeral service at 2 p.m. Friday, Aug. 29, 2014, at the Hynes Funeral Home, Margaretville, with the Rev. Harold Patterson, officiating.
