They settled, first in California, where they were married in 1858. In 1859 they came to Oregon and as members of the Methodist Episcopal church and public spirited citizens, have for the past 60 years taken their part in the building up of this part of the state. To them were born 11 children, seven of whom still live. Those of this younger generation cannot appreciate the hardships through which the elders passed, but the deep respect in which they are held can best be shown by an earnest effort to further the good works so faithfully begun by them.
