Jefferson Greenberry Allen was born in Leake County, Mississippi on July 01, 1844, to Stephen Allen and Serena Savell. He married Julia Ann Matilda Harris, the daughter of Thomas Sidney Allen and Matilda A. Henry on June 12, 1867, in Leake County, Mississippi. In 1869 their first son, Charley A. was born. Shortly after his birth, they moved to Sabine Parish, Louisiana, where their second son, Eli Harrison (1871), and their daughter, Francis Matilda (1873)were born. By 1876, they had moved to Tyler County, Texas where their son, Zachariah (1876), Virdin (1880), Mertie (1882), Shellie (1885), Eula Viola (1887) and Riley (1889-1892). Riley is buried at Mann Cemetery, Tyler Co., TX. In 1904, Julia passed away. On January 16, 1906, Jefferson remarried, Delilah Hopson, who had one son, George Washington Hopson. Jefferson passed away in 1929 and two years later, Delilah passed. Jefferson is buried next to his first wife in Sandy Hill Cemetery and Delilah is buried at Mt. Pisgah Cemetery, Tyler Co., TX.
