CO A 1ST ALA CAV COFEDERATE STATES ARMYGeorge was born at High Log, Montgomery Co, Al. This area is how located southwest of Fitzapatrick, Bullock Co, Al.

G W Barnett "...enlisted in the Confederate Army in the Fall of 1861 at Montgomery, AL. He was engaged in the battles of Shiloh, (Pittsburg Landing, TN) near Savannah, TN and just above the AL-MS line, also fought at Murfreessboro, TN (30 miles south of Nashville) also at Chickamauga and Kennesaw Mountain, GA, where he received a severe wound in his arm which unfitted him for further service..." **(He was said to have returned home and was cared for by his parents. The care he received enabled him to regain use of his arm.)** "...He was truthful, honest and patriotic, never shunning his duty as a soldier and friend. He died at Fort Worth, on the April 5, 1907, after suffering several months from severe stroke of paralysis; the first stroke occurring while he was attending a regular meeting of Robert E Lee Camp 158, United Confederate Veterans. He and Dollie married in Pike Co, AL on 11 Dec 1866. They moved to Texas sometime after 1875 and before 1880, when they appear in 1880 census in Austin Co, TX.
