Henny M. "Mrs. B" Beyrer, 91, of St. Paul's Retirement Community, died at noon on Sunday, June 8, in the retirement community.
She was born Aug 28, 1905, in Hamburg, Germany, and moved to South Bend in 1910 from Hamburg.
On June 16, 1926, in South Bend, she married Clarence K. Beyrer, who preceded her in death in 1961. She was also preceded in death by a son, Charles K. Beyrer on May 13, 1997.
She is survived by two sons, John M. "Jack" Beyrer of Libertyville, Ill., and William H. Beyrer of Chambersburg, Pa; and by six grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
Mrs. Beyrer was the former co-owner of the Portage Variety Store. She was a former manager of the Robertson's Book Department and worked part-time at the McKinley Pharmacy, retiring in 1992.
She was a graduate of South Bend High School and was a life-time member of the Order of the Eastern Star Chapter 2. She was also a member of the Sunnyside Presbyterian Church.
Friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m. on Wednesday at the Welsheimer Funeral Home, 521 N. William Street. Private memorial services will be held on Thursday. Cremation will take place, with burial at Riverview Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, the family requested that memorial contributions be made to the charity of donors choice.
