Richard Hanson Hebb was the son of William Samuel Hebb and Ann Katherine Forrest Hebb. He married Anne Thomas 2 Feb. 1788 in Frederick County, Maryland. They lived on a farm, Pyles Delight, northwest of Sharpsburg, Maryland. They had nine children:

"The History of Washington County, Maryland: from the earliest settlements to the present time, including a history of Hagerstown" by Thomas J. C. Williams (1906) contains a biographical sketch of William Forrest Hebb, son of Richard and Annie (Thomas) Hebb, which says: "Richard Hebb lived on the farm now owned by Andrew Snyder, of Sharpsburg and both he and his wife are buried on this farm."
