Alice Gertrude Morris, 75, of Esmont, passed peacefully surrounded by her loved ones at her daughter's home in Troy, Va. She was a four time lung cancer fighter. Born on November 3, 1941, in Louisa, Va., she was a daughter of the late Jake Layton and Maude Anna Morris.

Retired from Westminster Canterbury of the Blue Ridge,she enjoyed painting, dancing, music, mustangs and spending time with her children, and her dog, Lilly she loved dearly.

She is survived by five children, Debbie Napier and her husband, Donald of Buckingham, Va., Raymond Morris of Esmont, Va., Renee Morris and her fiance', Johnny of Troy, Va., Dannielle Morris of Esmont, Va., and Kimberly Myers of Shenandoah, Va.; special niece,Crystal Knighton of Shenandoah, Va.,eight grandchildren, four great grandchildren, Willie Morris of Keene, Va., Guy Morris and his wife, Liz of Louisa,and Gladys Morris and her husband, James of Charlottesville, Va. and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by Raymond Bruce; a granddaughter,Shana Nichole; her parents, Jake Layton and Maude Morris,five brothers and four sisters.

A service will be held Sunday, December 4, 2016,at 2 p.m. at Atlee Church in Scottsville, Victory Hall, 410 Valley Street, Scottsville, VA 24590. Trey Crizter and Travis Critzer.
