Bert David Dunlap, son of John and Elizabeth Dunlap, was born in Mansfield, OH, April 6, 1866, and departed this life, April 1, 1940 at the age of 74 years 11 months and 25 days.

When eight years of age he came with his parents as early settlers to Dickinson County, KS. In 1890 he was united in marriage to Lucretia Oberlender. They settled on a farm in the Newbern community where they lived throughout their married life.

To this union were born 6 children, 3 sons and 3 daughters. Two of these died in infancy and Ethel in 1927.

On January 4 of this year Mr. and Mrs. Dunlap celebrated their golden anniversary.

Because of ill health of Mr. Dunlap, they went to live with their son Martin on January 17, where he was kindly cared for by his children during his last illness.

He leaves to mourn, his faithful companion, three sons, Martin of Abilene, Wesley of Grand View, CA, Arthur of Marionville, MO, four granddaughters, Evelyn and Mary of Abilene, and Joan of Marionville, MO. Two brothers and one sister of Ohio, and also many neighbors and friends.

Funeral services were conducted Thursday afternoon from the Newbern church with Rev. William Hotchkiss in charge and interment was in the Newbern cemetery, KS.
