Donald Ashby Anderson, 73, of Alexandria, died at INOVA Alexandria Hospital on Friday, November 2, 2012.He was born in Washington, Virginia, on May 23, 1939, a son of Loring M. and Ada Mae Smoot Anderson.

Mr. Anderson was an avid golfer and enjoyed other outdoor activities like tennis, running and bicycling. Most of all, he loved his family.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sisters, Virginia Herold and Gracie Allman; and a nephew, John Joseph Herold. Survivors include two brothers and a sister, Loring Anderson Jr., John M. Anderson and Alice Anderson; nieces and nephews, Ernest Anderson, Karen Sue Anderson, Michael Anderson, Jennifer Anderson, Stacey Anderson, Scott Anderson, Barbara Ann Winter, Jackie Manning, Jimmy Collins, Kathy Uchic and Charles Herold; his longtime friend and companion, Martha McManaway; and numerous grand nieces and grand nephews. He was married to Jacqueline Apele Clark from 12 Jun 1965 to 27 Jul 1970.

The family will receive friends at Moser Funeral Home 233 Broadview Avenue, Warrenton, from 7 until 9 p.m. Thursday, November 8, 2012. A funeral service will be held 3 p.m. Friday, November 9, 2012, at Trinity Episcopal Church, 379 Gay Street, Washington, Virginia, with the Reverend Jennings Hobson officiating.

Interment will follow at Jessamine Hill Cemetery in Washington, Virginia.
