"Obituary.
-----------
Mrs. Spencer W. Corwin.
Mrs. Ann Gumaer, wife of Spencer W. Corwin, notice of whose death appears elsewhere, was a true woman, a loving and devoted wife, a faithful friend, loved by all who knew her. Her Christian life was marked for the simplicity in which she trusted in the love of her Saviour, whom she would often speak of with a love supreme in her life's duties. A good woman, noble in character, has passed to her reward.
Mrs. Corwin was the daughter of General William and Artimica Gumaer [also known as Artemissa Wiltsie and Wilhelm Gumaer], who died several years ago.
She is survived by one sister, Mrs. S. F. Smith, of Union, N. Y. and four brothers, Hiram, Cyrus, Thomas, and Isaac Gumaer, all of Jersey City."

Ann's husband wrote a letter in which he mentions their children, none of whom survived them: "lamentedly we have no surviving children. our children Aggie, Maddie & Sarah died young."[sic]. The letter is owned by member #46498534. The date is unknown as is the recipient. Aggie Corwin and Sarah Corwin are listed on the monument right beneath the known children, which could indicate that this is so. However, note that it is "Mattie" that is carved on the stone and there is no mention of Florence or Martha in the letter, unless Maddie/Mattie is a nickname for Martha.
