In 1861, he married Ann Gumaer, who died in 1901. The "Corwin genealogy (Curwin, Curwen, Corwine) in the United States" mentions no other children for the couple than Martha.

However, Spencer wrote a letter in which he mentions their children, none of whom survived them: "lamentedly we have no surviving children. our children Aggie, Maddie & Sarah died young."[sic]. The letter is owned by member #46498534. The date is unknown as is the recipient of the letter. Aggie Corwin and Sarah Corwin are listed on the monument right beneath the known child, which could indicate that this is so. However, note that it is "Mattie" that is carved on the stone and there is no mention of Florence or Martha in the letter, unless Maddie/Mattie is a nickname for Martha.

Secondly, he married Myra Mapes, who survived him, living in their Unionville home.

His obituary:

"Spencer W. Corwin.

Spencer W. Corwin passed quietly from this life at his late home, Unionville, N. Y., Sunday noon, March 30, 1913, in the 70th year of his life. He had been a patient sufferer for the past three years.

Born May 7, 1843, at Mount Hope, Orange, N. Y., he was the youngest of seven children of Benjamin W. and Sophia R. Corwin. He is survived by his widow, Myra Mapes Corwin, of Unionville, and one brother, John E. Corwin, of this city.

He formerly resided ay Poughkeepsie, N. Y., and latter at Attica, N. Y. Afterwards he returned to Middletown and purchased Fairmont Farm, formerly owned by his brother, Henry R. Corwin, deceased and later sold the place to John W. Arfmann. Subsequently, about four years ago, he removed to Unionville, this county.

He was possessed of a large heart, a generous disposition and was a kindly Christian gentleman. Many there are who will mourn his going, but, "after life's fitful fever he sleeps well."

Funeral services at his home, Unionville, Wednesday morning at 10 o'clock, followed by interment in the family plot, Hillside Cemetery, this city, on arrival of the 12:30 Susquehanna train."
