Earl Adkins, age 70, of Boldens Branch Road at Ezel, Kentucky passed away on Wednesday, May 7, 2014 at the Morgan County Appalachian Regional Hospital in West Liberty, Kentucky after a brief illness.

Earl was born on September 28, 1943 in West Liberty, Kentucky. He was the son of the late John Riley "Jay" Adkins and Prudie (Keeton) Adkins.

Jay & Prudie were married on February 15, 1930 in West Liberty, Kentucky. Jay & Prudie had 16 children. Earl was their 9th child.

Earl's mother, Prudie (Keeton) Adkins, passed away on February 25, 2008 in Dayton, Ohio. She is buried in the Woodland Cemetery located in Dayton, Ohio in Montgomery County.

Earl was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Ira & Rachel (Ball) Adkins, and his maternal grandparents, Sanford & Lizzie (Howerton) Keeton, all of Morgan County, Kentucky.

Earl was preceded in death by his father-in-law & mother-in-law, Jesse Irvin & Emma (Jenkins) Dulin of Morgan County, Kentucky.

Earl is survived by his wife, Shirley (Dulin) Adkins, of Ezel, Kentucky. They were married on August 25, 1963 at Mima, Kentucky in Morgan County.

Earl is survived by 2 daughters: 1) Cheryl Elaine (Adkins) & James Mitchell Trimble of Fairborn, Ohio & 2) Sheena Gail Adkins & fiance Tony Casey of Ezel, Kentucky. Earl is also survived by 5 sons: 1) Earl Eugene & Catrina (Hardwick) Adkins of Georgetown, Kentucky, 2) Gregory Lynn & Penni (Scanlon) Adkins of West Liberty, Kentucky, 3) Michael Ray & Shelley (Deer) Adkins of Wheelrim, Kentucky, 4) Carl Dean & Gloria (Whitt) Adkins of Wrigley, Kentucky and 5) Shawn Dale & Norita (Watkins) Adkins of Ezel, Kentucky.

Earl is survived by 3 sisters: 1) Pearlie (Adkins) Caskey of North Middletown, Kentucky, 2) Margie (Adkins) Kelly of Fairborn, Ohio & 3) Brenda (Adkins) Tipton of Dayton, Ohio. He is also survived by 1 brother, Bobby Adkins, of Dayton, Ohio.

Earl is survived by 14 grandsons: 1) Corey Adkins of West Liberty, Kentucky; 2) Cameron Adkins of West Liberty, Kentucky; 3) Cortney Adkins of Ezel, Kentucky; 4) Dakota Adkins of Wrigley, Kentucky; 5) Zachary Adkins of Lexington, Kentucky; 6) Michael Trimble of Fairborn, Ohio; 7) Dustin Trimble of Fairborn, Ohio; 8) Derick Trimble of Fairborn, Ohio, 9) Chad Deer of Fairborn, Ohio; 10) Freddie Bowling of Morehead, Kentucky; 11) Tyler Howard of Morehead, Kentucky; 12) Dylan Adkins of Morehead, Kentucky; 13) Jordan Adkins of Morehead, Kentucky and 14) Tanner Casey of Ezel, Kentucky. Earl is survived by 4 granddaughters: 1) Tera (Adkins) Murello of Lexington, Kentucky; 2) Caneishia Adkins of West Liberty, Kentucky; 3) Jeanna (Guess) Music of Flat Gap, Kentucky & 4) Erica Lyons of West Liberty, Kentucky. Earl is also survived by 7 great-grandsons & 7 great-granddaughters.

Earl is also survived by a host of nephews, nieces & friends.

Earl was a member of the Old 519 Full Gospel Church at West Liberty, Kentucky. He enjoyed spending time with family and friends.

Earl's visitation was held on Friday, May 9, 2014 at 6:00 p.m. at the Herald, Stewart & Halsey Funeral Home in West Liberty, Kentucky. His funeral was held at the funeral home on Saturday, May 10, 2014 at 1:00 p.m. with the Rev. Eugene Haney and Rev. Josh Hampton officiating.

Earl was buried at the Ezel Cemetery located at Ezel, Kentucky in Morgan County.
