OBITUARY for Archbald D. Ball from the Elgin, Illinois Newspaper.
"Came west 40 years ago living first in Batavia Kane Co. Ill. Located in Elgin 35 Years ago and was for many years an employee of the City. Father James R. Ball Mother not listed.
Archibald was James R. Ball's oldest son.
The following information as seen on microfilm at Gail Borden Library, Elgin, Illinois. Sent to me from Viola (Ashman)Swanson - 1035 Hill Ave. Elgin, Ill. 60120.
Elgin Advocate Sat. April 23, 1892: "AN OLD RESIDENT" Death of Archibald D. Ball on Sunday Morning-Roland Sherwin. A.D. Ball passed away Sunday morning at 11:03 o'clock, of paralysis and general disability, aged 88 years, l month, and 4 days. His first stroke of paralysis came in 1881; the third five weeks ago Monday.
Mr Ball was born at Fairhaven, Vermont and came west forty years ago, first living at Batavia. Thirty five years ago he located in Elgin, and was for many years in the employ of the city, until incapacited for work. He was respected by all. Death removes from our midst an upright man and a good husb and and father. Twice he was married in 1828 to Adeline Wood, and in 1841 to Mary Jane Hyde. Both are dead. Two children, Mrs J.C. Guilfoil of 226 Villa Street, and Mrs. Clarence Lewis of La Grande, Oregon survive.
A few weeks ago shortly after sustaining the third stroke, Mr. Ball was brought to his daughter's from a nephews at Batavia, with whom he had lived nearly two years. The funeral took place at 2 0'clock monday from the First M. E. church, of which for thirty years he had been a member".

"DEATHS" A. D. BALL - Archibald D. Ball died at the home of his daughter in this city on Sunday of general disablities. Aged 88 years. He was born at Fairhaven, Vermont on March 13, 1804 and had lived here forty-seven years. For a short time lately he resided with relative at Batavia. Mrs John Guilfoil or Gullfoil of this city ands Mrs. Clarence Lewis, now of La Grande Oregon are his daughters. The funeral occurred today at the First M.E. Church.
The Sexton's office at Bluff City Cemetery shows:
Born Fairhaven, Vermont March 13, 1804: Died: April 17, 1892: He was a Carpenter. Cause of death: general disability: His father: James R. Ball = Interred in Channing St. Cemetery. In 1913 removed to Bluff City Cemetery.
