Barney Benton, age 86, lifelong resident of the White Plains community, passed away Saturday, April 21, following an illness of two months.
Funeral services were held from the Penton Church of God on Sunday, April 22, at 3:00 p.m., with Rev. Alvin Young and Rev. Ernest Talley officiating. Interment was in Penton cemetery with Johnson & Sanders in charge of arrangements.
A member of Chapel Hill Methodist Church, Mr. Benton is survived by his wife, Mrs. Alleen Sharpe Benton, LaFayette Route 2; three daughters, Mrs. Cal Sharpe, Miss Novie Jane Benton, Miss Myrtis Benton, LaFayette Route 2; three sons, A. M. and N. P. Benton, Montgomery; J. P. Benton, Mt. Holly, N. C.; six grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
