Services will be at 1:30 p.m. Sunday at Hurley Funeral Home. The Rev Arvil Bass will offciate. Burial will be in Laurel Hill Cemetery.
Visitation will be 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Saturday February 7,1976 at the funeral home.
He was born in South Dakota November 13, 1907, a son of William and Anna Schaeffer Layton. He married Kathryn Bryant on May 20, 1944 in Havana.
Surviving are his wife; three sons, Ernest Jr., Larry, and Ronald and a daughter Mrs. Kathy Dye, all of Havana.
Also surviving are found grandchildren; two brothers, Albert of Hawarden, Iowa, and Oliver of Deer Park, Washington and a sister, Mrs. Lillian Tasklia of Great Falls, Montana.
Five brothers preceded him in death.
Mr Layton was a retired contractor. He was a member of the Havana Central Christian Church and the VWF Post 6408.
He was also a World War II veteran.
