Kathryn Layton Towery, 89, of Havana, IL passed away on January 11, 2015 at 7:06 PM at Havana Healthcare with her family by her side. She was born on September 27, 1925 to Henry and Adeline (Miller) Bryant in Havana, IL. She married Ernest Layton Sr. on May 20, 1944 in Havana, IL and he preceded her in death on February 5, 1976. Kathryn later married Richard Towery on July 7, 1984 and he also preceded her in death on March 29, 1994.

Kathryn is survived by three children: Ernie Layton Jr., Ron Layton and Kathy (Allen) Dye all of Havana, IL, and three step-children: Esther Oviyach of Cedar Lake, IN, Gordon Towery of Spring Parn, MN and Fran Burns of Fort Lauderdale, FL, 19 grandchildren, 26 great-grandchildren and two great- great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by once son: Larry (Bear) Layton, one grandson: Jay Dye and one great-granddaughter: Amber Fortney, four sisters: Ada Wallace, Beulah Cleer, Jeanette McKinney and Betty Hurst.

Kathryn was an avid Cubs fan and collected chicken décor, but most of all she was the best mother, grandmother, and GG, who loved her family. She was a long time member of the Central Christian Church. She worked at K&E Liquor Store when it first opened and later worked at Hornsby's until it closed.

A memorial service will be held for Kathryn at 11:oo AM on Thursday, January 15, 2015 at the Central Christian Church in Havana, IL with a visitation one hour prior beginning at 10:00 AM. Rev. Emily Williams will officiate. Burial will immediately follow at Laurel Hill Cemetery in Havana, IL.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Central Christian Church.
