Mrs. Martha Susan Akin, 94, came to Texas in a covered wagon in 1880. She died at her home after being ill for 5-1/2 years as the result of a broken hip. She moved to Stephens County in 1883.
After coming to Texas, her family moved to Stephens County. She married E.P. Akins in Stephens County in February of 1883. He preceded her in death.. She lived in Mineral Wells for a few years in 1920. Mr. and Mrs. Akin were farmers in the Post Oak community. She was a member of St. Paul's Methodist Church in Breckenridge.
