Confederate Guerilla, Quantrill Raiders,

-----------
'Boone Sholl (sic), who was riding the horse that he had taken from Jim Lane near Blue Springs, lost control of his horse, which ran away with him and through the line of Federals, who shot him in the back, the ball passing through his body and breaking the buckle on his belt. We found that we had killed thirty-three of them........Sholl held up and rode his horse about nine miles that night, and was taken to the home of a widow by the name of Young [sic, Younger], where he died the next morning, and, just before he died, he told the boys that he wanted Captain Todd to have his horse.'

His grandfather was Septimus Scholl, grandson of the famous frontiersman. Family researchers have noted Daniel Boone Scholl was taken 9 miles from the site of the skirmish to the home of a widow by the name of YOUNGER, not Young (as McCorkle stated) where he died of his wound. There were many families with that surname in the area.

Joseph Scholl married Lavinia Boone, Daniel Boones daughter. The Scholl's also fought in the Revolutionary War alongside the Boone Family of Kentucky. There was also another connection with the Boone family. Boone and George Scholl's mother, Harriet Rite Boone, was a 3rd cousin of his father, Nelson Scholl. She was a descendent of one of Daniel Boone's brothers.
