He was a Lieutenant in the Royal Air Force, formerly in the Cheshire Regiment, 5th battalion. He was killed while flying at Worthy Down Aerodrome, Winchester, aged 21 yrs. This aerodrome was infamous for its challenging uphill landing sites. He was buried on the 6th June 1918.
