George was born Sept. 7, 1923, in Vay, Idaho, to Roy and Mabel Langenheder Faler. He graduated from Ritzville (Wash.) High School in 1942 and went to work for the U.S. Army at Geiger Field near Spokane, where he met Lillian Novotny. They were married Nov. 26, 1944, and in 1945 the couple moved to Pullman, where he made his home since that time.
George co-owned a gas station in Pullman and worked various construction jobs as well until 1960, when he began working in the Farm Service Department at Washington State University. George retired from WSU in 1984.
He was a loving husband and father, building special bonds with all of his children. George enjoyed all life offered and especially enjoyed his hobbies, including shortwave radio, fishing and woodworking. He was a devoted member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church.
George is survived by his three sons, Claude, Kevin and Keith Faler; his five daughters, Barbara Pace, Mary Claar, Susan Ellis, Pat Pedersen and Margaret (Peggi) FalerSweany; two brothers, Dale and Roy Faler and Roy's wife, Kaarlene; 11 grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
George was preceded in death by his loving wife, Lillian, this past July; and a granddaughter, Vicki.
Friends may call at a visitation for George from 1 to 5 p.m. Tuesday and Wednesday at Kimball Funeral Home in Pullman. The rosary will be recited at 7 p.m. Wednesday at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Pullman. A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Thursday at Sacred Heart, with vault interment to follow at the Pullman Cemetery. Kimball Funeral Home is handling arrangements.
