EDWARD YORK

Edward York, a resident of the Manitowoc Health Care Center, entered into eternal rest Wednesday, Jan. 1, 2003 at the Health Care Center. Funeral services will be held at Immanuel Evangelical Lutheran Church, Manitowoc, Saturday, Jan. 4, 2003 at 11 a.m. The Rev. Loren Lindeman will officiate with burial in Evergreen Cemetery, Manitowoc. Ed was born March 24, 1927 in Manitowoc, to the late Bernard and Mary Hajner York. He graduated from Lincoln High School in 1945. During World War II he served with the United States Army in the European Theatre of War. He married Joyce M. Schelthelm, May 31, 1952 at St. John's Evangelical Lutheran Church, Newtonburg. Ed was a long-time custodian at Andrew Jackson School, retiring in 1989. He was a member of Immanuel Evangelical Lutheran Church. Survivors include his wife: Joyce; a daughter: Nancy (John) Tkaez of Manitowoc; three grandchildren: Mason Benzinger and his fiancee, Jenny Gleichner; Aaron Benzinger and his fiancee, Becky Bastian; and Brook Benzinger; a brother: Joe (Mary Lou) York of Manitowoc; a sister: Gladys Budnik of Manitowoc; also nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Friends and relatives may call at Immanuel Evangelical Lutheran Church on Saturday from 10 a.m. until the time of services at 11 a.m. The Harrigan Parkside Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 628 N. Water St., Manitowoc, assisted the York family with funeral arrangements.
