In 1910 she lived with her parents and seven siblings in a house they were renting on North Walnut Street in Lyons, IN. (Only six siblings are listed on the census record, but Kate must have just been missed somehow.) Her father worked as a house carpenter.

In 1920 she and her parents and five siblings lived in a house they were renting at 1904 Sixth Avenue in Terre Haute, IN. Her father worked as a tile ditcher contractor, her mother as a seamstress in an overall factory, Nina as a public school teacher, Kate as a dipper in a stamping mill, and Joy as a telegraph operator in a telephone office.

In 1930 she and her first husband lived in Vigo County, IN.

In 1940 she and her second husband and 19-year-old Frank Fitch were lodgers in the home of 63-year-old widow J W Tice in the house she owned at 119 North Court Street in Crown Point, IN. Her home was valued at $6000. Earl worked as a teacher in a public high school, with an income in 1939 of $2300 for 52 weeks of work, and Frank as a waiter in a restaurant, with an income in 1939 of $720 for 48 weeks of work.
