WILLIAM J. WOZNICK September 21, 1922 - May 26, 2003 William "Bill" Woznick of Sonora, CA died Monday at his home. Mr. Woznick was born in Wilton, ND and had lived in Alameda for over 60 years before moving recently to Sonora. He was proud of his Ukrainian heritage. His family were professional Ukrainian dancers and were featured in a North Dakota history book. He moved to California and joined the Army Corp. of Engineers to become a pioneer in the building of the Alcan Highway in Alaska. He later owned and operated several businesses to later retire as a superintendent of a road construction firm. He was a member of Alameda Elks Lodge 1015 and Alameda SIRS. Mr. Woznick is survived by his three children and their spouses, Sheri and Ron Pratt of Sonora, Kim and Fred Parker of Sonora and Drake and Angela Woznick of Cottage Grove, OR, four brothers, Paul Woznick of Rio Vista, John Woznick of Idaho, Larry Woznick of Lodi and Greg Woznick of Hawaii, two sisters, Ann Woznick of Rio Vista and Irene Butcher of Idaho, four grandchildren, Shawn Prentiss, Timothy Morten, Christopher Morten and Kellie Graham and four great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his loving wife of 50 years, Dorothy L. Woznick, in 1992. Bill's greatest passion was spending time with his family. He also enjoyed gardening and nature. He touched the heart of everyone he met. A private service will be held at a later date.
