Mrs. W. T. Evans. Dora Esta Witt, widow of Reverend W. T. Evans, was born on November 19, I888 to Isaac and Susan Witt in Andersonville, Tennessee. She was married to Reverend W. T. Evans, who died May 21, 1944, and traveled with him in his ministry for nearly forty years. At his death, she moved to Fountain City. She was a member of Fountain City United Methodist Church and attended regularly until ill health forced her to curtail her activities. She was devoted to her church, her family, and her friends. She was very quiet, unassuming, and a very gracious, dignified lady.
Mrs. Evans leaves three children; Enid and Candler both teachers and Corrinne a civil engineer, and one sister, Mrs. Lester Bratcher of Shelbina, MO.
She was laid to rest beside her husband in the beautiful Sinking Springs Methodist Church cemetery, near Clinton, Tennessee, on Friday, January 12, 1979. The service was conducted by her pastor, Dr. E. A. Eldridge.
"I have fought the good fight. I have finished my course. I have kept the faith." A great lady who loved her family, her God, and the church.
