Alberta Marie Butler

Oct. 10, 1913 - Sept. 4, 2009 Alberta Marie Butler, 95, of Independence, Mo., died September 4, 2009, at Circle of Life Hospice Care in Springdale, Benton County, Arkansas. Alberta was born in Gerden, Ark., on October 10, 1913, though she was a lifetime resident of Independence, Mo. She worked at Wilcox Electric in Kansas City for years until her retirement. At one time she was even contracted to help engineer an electrical prototype for the United States government. She was a founding property owner and developer of Winegar's Teal Bend at Truman Lake in Warsaw, Mo. She was also a member of the Sycamore Hills Baptist Church. Preceding her in death was her husband of 65 years, Clarence W. Butler in 1996. Surviving Alberta are her nieces Laurine May and Betty Ann McCarroll; son Clarence W. "Bill" Butler Jr.; grandsons Russell Butler and David Bowers; granddaughter Tammy Bitzer; great granddaughters Brittany Butler and Caitlin Bowers; great grandsons Ryan and Zach Bowers; a great-great granddaughter, Rome Butler, and a great-great grandson, Kaylor Bowers-Sisco. Memorial services and visitation will be held on Tuesday, September 8, from 6-8 p.m., and graveside services will be at on Wednesday, September 9, at 10 a.m., both at Newcomer's Funeral Home on Noland Road in Independence.

Alberta was not the developer of Winegar's Teal Bend Camp, her parents Walter Grover and Anna Laurine Doxey Winegar were.
Alberta is also survived by Niece Sally Winegar Flaherty, Nephews, Charles Conway and Thomas Grover Winegar, Jerome, Richard and Steven Winegar and William Halsey.

David, Caitlin, Ryan and Zac Bowers are Ex-Husband and children of Tammy Butler Bowers Bitzer who was first married to Russell Butler so are only related through marriage. Tammy was like a Daughter to Alberta.

Alberta was preceded in death by her parents Walter Grover and Anna Laurine Doxey Winegar and 2 Brothers James Edward and Milton Conway Winegar and twin Daughters Eliza Belle Patriquin and Julia Elizabeth McCarroll.
