Vickey Lynn Klunder, 67, of Waverly, Iowa, passed away early Monday morning, September 28, 2015, at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics in Iowa City.
Vickey was born on May 16, 1948, in Waverly, Iowa, the daughter of Bernard and Carrie (Rewerts) Weiss.
She attended the Waverly school system, graduating in 1966 from the Waverly-Shell Rock High School.
Following her schooling, Vickey went to work for Schield Bantam Company in Waverly in the purchasing department.
On November 11, 1967, she was united in marriage to Don William Klunder at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Waverly. The couple made their home in Waverly, where they raised two sons, Chad and Erik.
Vickey was currently working at Wartburg College in the Residential Life/Student Affairs and had worked for the Dean of Students. Vickey had been with Wartburg the past 38 years and was getting ready to retire.
Don passed away on April 8, 2013, and Vickey continued to live in her home in Waverly.
She was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church in Waverly. In her spare time, Vickey enjoyed working in her beautiful gardens, biking and watching Notre Dame Fighting Irish Football games. But most of all dearly loved spending time with her family.
Vickey is survived by her two sons, Chad (Lisa) Klunder of Granger, Indiana, and Erik Klunder of North Liberty, Iowa; one granddaughter, Allyson; one sister, Nancy (Don) Carlson of Waverly; one brother, Mick (Diane) Weiss of Waverly; a sister-in-law, Marvel (Earl) Wedeking of Clarksville; and her two loved dogs, Dexter and Zoey.
Vickey was preceded in death by her parents, Bernard and Carrie Weiss; and her husband, Don.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Thursday, October 1, 2015 at 10:30 a.m. at St. Mary Catholic Church in Waverly, with Fr. David Schatz and Pastor Ramona Bouzard officiating.
Public visitation will be held on Wednesday, September 30th from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at the Kaiser-Corson Funeral Home in Waverly and also for one hour prior to services on Thursday at the church.
Burial will be in St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery in Waverly.
