Rosary for Juanita V. Vasquez, 87, of Lubbock will be tonight (Sunday) at 7 p.m. at Calvillo Funeral Home Chapel. Mass will be celebrated on Monday at 10 a.m. at San Jose Catholic Church with Father Michael Melcher officiating. Burial will be in the City of Lubbock Cemetery under the direction of the caring staff of Calvillo Funeral Home. Juanita went to live with the Lord on Thursday.

She was born to the late Tomas and Feliciana Vitela on May 27, 1917, in Austin. She married her loving husband Pedro M. Vasquez on July 24, 1941, in McFaddin, Texas. They moved to Lubbock in 1967 from Sudan. He preceded her in death on April 23, 1994. Juanita was a homemaker and a Catholic. A very loving and caring Mother and Grandmother, she will be deeply missed.

Survivors include two sons, Gilbert Vasquez of Colorado and Ruben Vasquez of Lubbock; four daughters, Sylvia M. Guzman of Ropesville, Ortensia Vasquez of Lubbock, Olga Vasquez of Wichita Falls and Sylvia A. Guzman of Lubbo ck; one brother, Juan Vitela of California; seven sisters, Susie Soto of Sudan, Sylvesta Perez and Pila Brisco, both of Clovis, Lillie Aleman and Margarita Salais, both of California, Connie Reedy and Simona Lepe, both of Littlefield; 21 grandchildren; 60 great- grandchildren; and 6 great-great- grandchildren. Pallbearers will be Ricky Vasquez, Adam Mendez, Jerry Guzman, Ramon Vasquez Jr., Joshua Guzman and Angel Vasquez.
