Lois E. Coburn-Rorabeck, 93, of Beloit, WI, died Sunday, January 15, 2012 in her home.

She was born April 6, 1918 near Beloit, WI, the daughter of Roy and Nellie (Kaufman) Tucker. Lois graduated from South Beloit High School in 1936, followed by a secretarial course at Beloit Vocational School. She married David Clarence Coburn on June 22, 1937 in the family home near Manchester, IL.

Lois spent many busy years as a farm wife, helping with the field work along with the bookkeeping and domestic responsibilities, and was also employed for several years in the office of Freeman Shoe Corporation. Until school consolidation closed Hart School, she was a supportive member of the Hart School Community Club, a local version of P.T.A. and served on the Hart School's School Board.

Lois was an active member of the Shopiere Congregational Church until declining health limited her participation. She taught Sunday school in earlier years, and joined in many activities of the Ladies Aid church group. She helped several years with the Autumn Chicken Dinner and the Ladies Aid home baked donut sale. She enjoyed her flowers and vegetable garden as well as her long membership in a local Garden Club.

Her first husband, David C. Coburn passed away on May 19, 1981. In 1989 she remarried to Delmas Rorabeck who died a few years later. Her parents, and sister Florence Catlett also preceded her in death.

She was known for her pleasant, friendly, and welcoming nature as well as her chocolate chip cookies. She will be greatly missed by friends and family.

In accordance with her wishes there will be no visitation or church services.

A graveside service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, January 20, 2012 in the Shopiere Cemetery.

Daley Murphy Wisch & Associates Funeral Home and Crematorium, 2355 Cranston Road, Beloit, WI, assisted the family with arrangements.

Her family wishes to thank Senior Helpers of Rockford, IL, and Beloit Regional Hospice for their care and support.
