COUSHATTA – Mrs. Novie T. Cannon, 50, died Wednesday at her home after a brief illness. Funeral Services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday in the Rose-Neath Funeral Home Chapel. The Rev. Grady Wren will officiate. Burial will be in the Thomas-Wren Cemetery.
She was a native of was a native of Springhill, a member of the Latter Day Saints Church, and was employed as a clerk in a local store.
Survivors include four daughters; Mrs. Laverne Lovelace of Austin, Texas, Mrs. Louvenia Payne of Sarepta, Mrs. Sue Hinton of Shreveport, and Mrs. Norma Jean Stevens of Coushatta; two sisters, Mrs. Ima Jean Stewart of Bastrop and Mrs. Eveline Tony; two brothers, Bill Thurman and Herman Thurman both of Springhill; her mother, Mrs. Ethel K. Thurman of Springhill; and nine grandchildren.

Novie Cannon was a loving hard working homemaker. After the death of Tankum in May 1967 she moved to Martin, Red River Parish, Louisiana just down the road from the Thomas Wren Cemetery there learning to live on her own and started to learn to drive for the first time. In Dec 1967 Grandma Cannon passed from a heart attack at the age of 50 years, seven months.
