Lavinia attended Tryon, NC schools, and, in 1940, she married Roy C. Eldridge who was then a Chief Petty Officer in the U. S. Navy. At the end of World War II, she and Roy and their 2 year old daughter moved to Spartanburg, SC where she would live most of her adult life. She was a member of Southside Baptist Church and a current member of Fernwood Baptist Church in Spartanburg. She taught Sunday School at both churches for many years. A kind, sweet, and soft spoken lady she adored and treasured her family and friends. She loved God and her church, flower arranging, playing bridge, square dancing, and was an avid Atlanta Braves fan. In 2008, she became a resident at Emeritus at Eastover in Charlotte, NC.
