Dorothy Lee Anderson Sports, 83, of Waycross died Wednesday morning (Sept. 12, 2007) at her residence after a lengthy illness. She was born in Waycross to the late C.W. and Josie Michael Waters and lived in Ware County all of her life where she was raised by her aunt and uncle, Reedy Garfield Anderson and Zella Frances Waters Anderson. Mrs. Sports retired in 1984 as the Food Service Director at Satilla Regional Medical Center. She was a member of Jamestown United Methodist Church, VFW Auxiliary and Satilla Regional Volunteer Auxiliary. In addition to her parents and aunt and uncle Mrs. Sports was preceded in death by one daughter, Frances Sports, two granddaughters, Samantha Sports and Cathy Sports.
Survivors include her husband, Robert Sports, Waycross, two sons, Bobby Sports (Linda), Brunswick, Frank Sports (Sandra), Blackshear, two daughters, Anna Johnston (Warren), Hoboken, Reda Sports, Waycross; six grandchildren, Connie Croft (Eric), Brunswick, Rhonda Terry (Donald), Brunswick, Chris Johnston (Diane), Moultrie, Lisa Brooks (Michael), Hoboken, Sam Sports, Athens, Taylor Sports, Blackshear, one sister, Willie Mae Newcomb, New Orleans, LA, seven great-grandchildren, Tyler Croft, Donald Terry, III, Katie Terry, Bryce Johnston, Carson Johnston, Quinton Brooks and Brittney Brooks; sisters-in-law, Amanda Sports, Waycross, Gertrude Sports, Perry, FL, Ernestine Davis, Waycross, Mary Burch, Waycross, Imogene Hodges, Dothan, AL, Virginia Taylor, Hudson, WY, one brother-in-law, Buddy Mobley, Waycross, several nieces, nephews and other relatives.
A funeral service will be held Saturday morning at 11:00 am at Miles-Odum Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow in Kettle Creek Cemetery.
The family will receive friends Friday evening from 6 - 8 pm at the funeral home.
